Sep 10, 2013 Most headlamps have an LED with 2, sometimes 3, levels of brightness. Some also have a red filter. This is one of the only ones I've seen that has an actual incandescent bulb. In my opinion, there is almost never a need for the brightness you get from an LED when camping/hiking, and it absolutely.
- May 19, 2011 Better housing for Diy is Petzl Zoom Halogene - 4 AA, 50mm head for heatsink and reflector. I have modified some no name headlamps with xp-g R5 dropins from DX, and with 3 AA and Middle mode (0.4A) they work about 4-5 hours.
